사치일세

 

다 버리고 비운 마음엔

 

용마루 위 구름 한 조각도

 

넘치는 사치일세

 

 

 

무념의 풍경 소리

 

한낮을 저미고

 

담청색 깊은 하늘 가엔

 

전단 향 내음

 

 

 

우주 만상은 아름다워라

 

무욕(無慾)의 가슴에

 

그윽한 향기로 피어나는

 

천체 조화의 노래여!   

 

 

 

큰스님 법당에 홀로 앉아

 

독경 삼매에 들면

 

그 안에 품은 서원

 

목어의 노래로 오네

 

 

 

사리탑 아래 무릎 꿇은

 

아기보살의 고요한 미소

 

바람 타고 살며시 법당으로 날아드네

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

*여럿이 조화되어 한 덩어리, 혹은 하나로 아우룸

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Temple in the Mountain

 

               Bong-Ja Ahn

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It’s a luxury.

 

Even a patch of clouds above the roof,

 

it’s too much of a luxury

 

for a humble heart.

 

 

 

The heedless wind-bells

 

gently stroke the midday air,

 

fills the deep azure firmament

 

with mystic *Jeondan-Hyang scent.

 

 

 

The universe is beautiful; -- 

 

blossoming upon the humble hearts,

 

abundant with sweet fragrance.

 

Oh, the perfect harmony of the spheres!

 

 

 

The master monk sits in the temple alone

 

absorbed deep into his sutra chanting.

 

The benevolent wishes resonate 

 

with the rhythm of his wooden gong.

 

 

 

From under the stone pagoda

 

the sweet smile of Baby Bodhisattva

 

stealthily flies into the temple upon the wind.
