살펴보고 있는 가운데 이번에는 리딩 섹션에 관한 이야기를 하도록 하겠습니다. 

이러한 팁들을 숙지하시고 실제 문제를 푸실 때 활용하시기 바랍니다. 

[  IELTS Reading 공부 방법 ]

1. 정확히 요구하는 답을 적어라. 

글자 수, 스펠링,  단위,  예시,  지시문 등을 정확하게 답하셔야 합니다. 

2. 문제를 풀면서 정답지에 기입하라. 

리딩 섹션은 리스닝과 달리 답안지를 작성할 시간을 따로 주지 않기 때문에 바로 정답지에 기입하는 것을 추천드립니다.

3. 절대 리딩 지문을 먼저 읽지 마라. 

문제를 먼저 읽고 무엇을 찾아야 하는지 파악 한 후에 지문을 읽도록 하시기 바랍니다. 

4. 리딩 지문의 레이아웃을 파악하라. 

지문의 시작과 끝을 흝어보고, 할애할 시간을 결정하여, 먼저 풀 문제를 결정하시기 바랍니다. 

5. 리딩지문을 skim & scan 하라. 

리딩 지문을 읽으시다가 중요한 정보가 발견되면 멈춰서 표시를 해 두시기 바랍니다. 문제와 연관이 있을 것으로 생각되는 어휘나 부분들을 표시해 두고 문제의 답을 빨리 찾을 수 있도록 하시기 바랍니다. 

6. 주제문 (Topic Sentence) 을 먼저 읽어라. 

보통 단락의 첫 문장이 주제문이며, 서론은 지문 전체의 주제를 담고 있습니다. 서론을 읽은 후 바로 결론을 읽어서 빠르게 글의 주제와 내용을 파악하도록 합니다. 

7. 각 단락의 주제문의 내용을 간략히 단락 옆에 적어 놓아라.

간략히 내용을 적어 놓으면  heading을  찾는 문제에서 훨씬 빠르게 답을 찾아내실 수 있습니다.

1. impressive: 인상적인

The report revealed that the internet is growing at an impressive pace. 

2. inconvenience: 불편함

The authorities concerned apologized for any inconvenience caused by the revision of law. 

3. industrialized: 산업화된 

The organization stated that manufacturing production is likely to rise by only 1.3 per cent in industrialized countries and by 4.7 per cent in developing ones. 

4. infrastructure: 기간 시설, 산업기반 

Most resources for infrastructure improvement are used up on primary and secondary roads but such grand scale projects have failed to raise the standard of living of the rural poor 

5. inlet: 후미, 입구 

The fumes from the scum floating on the inlets of the bay were so bad that they turned lead-based paints black. 

6. inner-city: 도심(부) 

It could be a very feasible solution for inner city areas where they have a problem with air pollution. 

7. integrate: 통합하다,  integration: 통합

There is a need to develop a broad-based approach to water management, with greater emphasis on integrated 

regional planning and conservation of critical habitats. 

8. irrigation: 관개  

Ancient civilizations diverted water from streams into irrigation systems. 

9. mass: 다량, 다수

Milgram's study also helps us to explain how obedience to authority on a societal level can result in traumatic 

historical events such as holocausts and mass murders. 

10. mass-transit: 대량 수송 수단 

The government’s goal is to create one of the most efficient bus mass-transit systems in the entire world. 



11. metropolis: 대도시 

Like all other metropolises, New York has a considerable population of poor people. 

12. mountainous: 산악지의

The landscape of Britain ranges from flat areas to very mountainous regions. 

13. mountain range: 산맥 

The Himalayan mountain range is home to the tallest mountain on earth, Mount Everest. 

14. overpopulated: 인구과잉의 

One of the main reasons for Seoul being overpopulated is the underdevelopment of other regions. 



15. pedestrian: 보행자 

 As fewer children and adults use the street as pedestrians, these streets become less sociable places. 

16. peninsula: 반도 

That major geographic features like Point Pelee or Cape May reflect the fact that migrating birds recognize 

these peninsulas during their migration. 

17. plain: 명백한, 단조로운; 평지

Farmers have been forced to use about a million tons of artificial fertilizer as a substitute for the nutrients which 

no longer fill the flood plain. 

18. plateau: 분지, 고원 

Some plateaus, like the plateau of Tibet, lie between mountain ranges while others are higher than surrounding land. 

19. prevalent: 유행하는 

Currently the plastic surgery is widely prevalent and considered normal. 

20. prospect: 전망, 가망 

A criminal record involving violence or abuse seriously affects career prospects.
